Parents of pupils at Fons Luminis Secondary school in Diepkloof took matters to their own hands so the parents were marching inside the school and demanding that the principal Lempe Motumi be physically removed from his office. The principal is facing charges of fraud and he is being investigated by the Gauteng department of education and by the police. One of the grade 8 student at school said, having Matumi while the school investigations were pending against him did not make sense. The principal confessed on spending R22 000 from the school account. He should be suspended while the investigation is pending. http://www.iol.co.za/news/south-africa/gauteng/principal-probed-for-fraud-forced-out-1.1247507
I honestly think that the principal did the wrong thing by using the school money and it brings bad publicity to the school. The department of education must come up with the strategy on how the school will use the money and putting people in charge on finances to all the government schools by so doing that it will reduce fraud within the schools. The department of education must also have the checking of flows of finances around the school.
IS THE GOVERNMENT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?
I DO BELIEVE THAT THE GOVERNMENT DONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS, 99 000 CANT JUST GET MIS USED AND NO ONE NOT EVEN NOTICE THAT ITS GONE, I LIKE THE POINT THAT YOU RAISED ABOUT THEM CHECKNG THE FLOW OF MONEY AND ACTUALLY ASK FOR RECEIPTS
ReplyDeleteYes Gift i agree with you the government is not doing anything about this problem but im glad that thids issue is still pending for the investigation so Gift as the government what would you do with such a problem?
ReplyDeleteI WOULD REALLY INVESTIGATE THE MATTER FURTHER, AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT ITS NOT THAT ONLY SCHOOL THATS DOING THIS, I WOULD DO MY OUTMOST TO STOP ALL THIS CORRUPTION AND GIVE THE STUDENTS WHAT OWED TO THEM, THEY WANT QUALITY EDUCATION AND THATS WHAT THEY DESERVE,, AMANDLA AND WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
ReplyDeleteI would also investigate more further but i will put people to be in charge who will check on the finances of the schpools as i've mentioned and also checking on the monthly bases
DeleteThese matters can affect alot on how systems are run and promotes a bad image about our education and the educators. If this is how eveyone wants to get paid for their job than whats the purpose of woking when others lose form what you benefit illegally.
ReplyDeleteThis creates abad image about our education system and their educators he should be ashamed.
ReplyDeleteYes Michelle it creates a bad image for the school and bad publicity
DeleteIf the law can't do its job i don't blame them for taking the matter in to their hands, its their children who studies there meaning if their is anything bad about the principal or even teachers they should be concent.
ReplyDeleteFrans I like the fact that that the parents of the learners stood up and took the initiative toward the principal ,i honestly i agree with you.
DeleteThis corrupt officials all have to be kicked out..the country cannot take anymore of this corruption.
ReplyDeletePride you very right and i agree with because the corruption is increasing every year.
DeleteMichelle i find this issue very unfair to the students and he educators because the educatorsa needs to be paid the next thing the principal eat the money i get what you are saying the school is loosing out of nothing.
ReplyDeleteFraud is a serious crime; the parents did well by taking the matters to their own hands because clearly the police were doing nothing about the matter. He should pay the price. The educators are the ones that should protect the children not reap them off. He must go to jail.
ReplyDeleteTrue that Mbalenhle he must go to jail so that he wont be involved in crime.
Deletethis shows how the governments are yes i agree with you that government should check with the finances of govrnment money and also be invovled in supervising the school principals and teacher because its their job to make sure that government school are well maintain and children get the best education
ReplyDeleteYes grace the government must make sure that they check all the records for the school money.
Deletethis is really shocking, i mean this principal earns a income every month so why must he be greedy?
ReplyDeleteU know other people are selfish they think for themselve the dont thing for the next person they did the right thing by taking this matter on their own hands.
Deletesometimes the government gives the public all the reasons to take matters into their own hands
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Yogie
DeleteThe only problem i see is that he got caught..
ReplyDeleteSouth Africa is changing and with things becoming more expensive one has to find the means to improve the lifestlye of himself and his family.
We're not aware of HIS story in this: He may have had mounting debt, or a sickly child. Anythinhg is possible.
But to see him negatively for doing what he has to do is to bad mouth the art of hustling.
